Families choose Sun Rising because of the integrity of the nature reserve and because it doesn't feel like a cemetery. That means keeping tributes natural and minimal.
We ALLOW natural flowers tied with string or raffia. We allow mosses, woven wooden frames and bamboo, without wire. Everything must be compostable. We support florists who use British and locally grown flowers.
We DO NOT ALLOW:
- plastic moulds, wires, netting, oasis or florists foam,
- jam jars, spinners or vases,
- ribbons, cellophane, bright wrapping,
- painted or dyed flowers, glitter,
- potted roses, primulas, heathers, conifers or other plants with roots,
- plants with seedheads that will germinate onsite, e.g. honesty, nigellas and mint.
Flowers must be laid flat, not be stuck upright in the earth. Tributes should not suppress the natural growth of wild plants.
Any floral tribute that does not comply with our regulations above will be removed immediately. Any arriving with a funeral will need to be removed by the family or funeral director at the time of the funeral.
The following are willing to create wreaths, bouquets and tributes that are 100% biodegradable . Unless stated otherwise, they can also supply permitted Christmas wreaths.
